Classic Car Buying Tips

Guys who buy classic cars face two challenges: these cars are often purchased sight unseen from someone halfway across the state or across the country, and the money outlay for classic cars can be great while the warranties and guarantees are scanty. This is not like buying a new car, where you get to test ride it and get lots of warranties from a dealer who is practically sweating for you to take a car off the lot. Sure, a classic car is cooler, but you do need to follow some basic buying tips to get it into your garage safely:

1. Do your research. Your best bet is to join a classic car club before you buy your car. This gives you lots of enthusiasts who can vouch for a retailer (or not). In addition, you might want to ask the local classic car mechanic about vendors you can trust. If you find a classic car and need to check out the guy who is selling it, ask for references or past customers who can tell you what their purchase experience was like. You will also want to run the retailer’s name through a local Chamber of Commerce, Better Business Bureau, and local police department to make sure that the person or company has not been involved in any scams. Thunderbird Classic Cars

What’s better than cruising with your very best girl on a Saturday night? Cruising in a Ford Thunderbird classic car, that’s what. T-Birds first appeared in 1955, (the same year Disneyland opened its doors), and they have been going strong ever since. Those first Thunderbirds were small, classically designed sports cars that oozed style and speed at the same time.

Thunderbird classic cars underwent an evolution after they first appeared in 1955. First designed as two-seaters, a four-door appeared in the late 1960s, and in 1958, the ultra-classic convertible first appeared, leading the car to its’ classic status almost overnight. Finding Vintage Cars – A New Technique

While talking with a helicopter pilot a couple of months ago, I found out about a new way to look for those original car parts or even whole cars you might be looking for. This pilot worked for one of the local medical transport and rescue services. In that capacity, he flew over lots of remote areas. He told me about several of the things that he was keeping an eye on. But, he did not give me real good details of where things were that he wanted for himself.

One of the things he described was a field full of old cars including Model T’s and Model A’s. He said it was not even close to a road, so you would not see it except from the air. He had a lot of other sweet cars spotted as well. Read the rest of this entry »
